Malaysia announced amnesty for undocumented migrants
Malaysia unveils plan to send back undocumented migrants. It is called “Back For Good” program.
Undocumented migrants in Malaysia can now opt to pay a RM700 (14,00 BDT) compound and voluntarily leave the country without risking arrest for illegally staying in Malaysia.
It will take place from Aug 1 to Dec 31, 2019
After screening, if the undocumented migrant becomes eligible for this program, s/he will also need to obtain proper travel documents, like passports and special travel passes from the embassy, as well as arrange own transportation back to the home country within seven days.
In between January 1 and June 4 of this year, the Malaysian government arrested 5,272 Bangladeshi workers, who are illegally staying in that country.
There are around 800,000 Bangladeshi now working in Malaysia.
