National Sharing Consultation on Study Findings on Recruitment Practices and Information Guideline for Migration towards Lebanon and Jordan


Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Program (OKUP) organized a national sharing consultation on study findings on overseas recruitment practices in Bangladesh as well as information guideline for migration to Lebanon and Jordan on 30th of May, 2017 at the Conference Room, Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), Kakrail, Dhaka. The objective of the Consultation was to promote accountability for fair and ethical overseas recruitment among associated actors. The program was carried out with the support of International Labour Organization (ILO) and UK Aid. Mr. Jabed Ahmed, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE) attended the meeting as the Chief Guest whereas Mr. Gagan Rajbhandari, Deputy Director, ILO Country Office for Bangladesh participated the meeting as the Special Guest.

A total of 65 participants including officials from the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE), BAIRA representative, national and international NGOs and civil society members, returnee migrant workers and root level sub-agents participated in the consultation. Participants left significant comments and feedbacks on the issues associated with overseas recruitment practices in Bangladesh.
