National Consultation on Supports and Services provided by Bangladeshi Missions in Lebanon and Jordan held

Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Program (OKUP) organized a national consultation on supports and services provided by Bangladeshi Missions for migrant workers in Lebanon and Jordan. Based on an info-graphic policy brief, the consultation was organized on 29th of May, 2017 at the Conference Room, Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), Kakrail, Dhaka where OKUP Chairman Mr. Shakirul presented the info-graphic policy brief on supports and services provided by Bangladeshi Missions in Lebanon and Jordan. The program was carried out with the support of International Labour Organization (ILO) and UK Aid. Mr. Selim Reja, Director General (DG), BMET attended the meeting as the Chief Guest whereas Mr. Gagan Rajbhandari, Deputy Director, ILO Country Office for Bangladesh participated the meeting as the Special Guest.

A total 60 participants including officials from the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE), different national and international NGOs and civil society members, returnee migrant workers and activists participated in the consultation. Participants left significant comments and feedbacks on the issue. OKUP expects that, it will finalize the info-graphic policy brief and share with the MoEWOE in order to improve supports and services for Bangladeshi migrant workers in Lebanon and Jordan.
