OKUP organized a consultation meeting on fair and ethical recruitment process with local government authorities and recruitment agents and sub-agents in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila on 27th of February, 2017. The meeting was held at BRDB Hall Room, Narsigndi Sadar Upazila. Aiming at the promotion of accountability for fair recruitment at local level the program was focused to inform local government authorities on present recruitment loopholes and sensitize recruiting agents and sub-agents on their roles and responsibilities to promote and practice accountable, fair and ethical recruitment. Total 50 participants including upazila administrative officials, recruitment agents and sub-agents, Union Parishad representatives, returnee migrant workers, NGO representatives, journalists and local community people attended the meeting. Participants recommended different strategies to promote accountability and transparency in local level overseas recruitment process. OKUP intends to submit these recommendations to the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, Bangladesh in order to promote fair and ethical overseas recruitment through bringing structural changes.
