Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Program (OKUP) organized a three-day training titled ‘Refresher
Training.’ The training aimed to increase OKUP’s staff capacity on project implementation.
More than 55 staff from various district of OKUP working area attended the workshop.
The first day of the workshop focused on the objective of different projects. In his inauguration
speech, Mr. Omar Faruque, Executive Director of OKUP encouraged the participants to do their best for their community. Afterward, OKUP chairman Mr. Shakirul Islam conducted a session on
the difference between EC and SED project. He said the main goal of EC project is enhancing the
capacity of female migrant workers on ‘Access to Justice,’ while SED project is trying to improve
the socio-economic scenario of migrant workers of Bangladesh. Lather on that day the training
was dedicated to drafting the constitution of OKUP forum and spouse group.
The second day of the training was followed by two sessions. Program Manager of Caritas
Luxemburg, Mr. Subash Saha conducted a session on the migrant forum and spouse group. He
provided a detailed plan on making a sustainable forum and spouse group. He suggested that
OKUP should conduct a filed assessment to know the current scenario of the forums and
spouse groups. After that, an assistant professor from the department of law of Dhaka
University conducted a session on fact-finding during the interview.
The last day of the training focused on drafting a constitution for OKUP reintegration program.
Throughout the training, the participants, especially the field staff interacted with the
facilitators and voiced out their opinions on different issues. They engaged in various group
OKUP believes this was a unique opportunity for its staff to improve their different soft skills.
On their concluding speech, OKUP executive director Mr. Omar Faruque and Chairman Mr.
Shakirul Islam said the takeaways from this training will immensely help the OKUP’s staff on
their journey to become better development professional.
